Duplex stainless was first introduced to the Oil and Gas industry in the late 1970’s when it was selected for natural gas pipelines. At the time, this selection choice provided a critical commercial breakthrough for Duplex 2205 (UNS S32305/S31803).
It helped pave the way for Duplex 2205 acceptance into not only the Oil and Gas industry, but also into many other industries as well.
Now, more than 30 years later, Duplex 2205, lean duplexes, super duplexes and hyper duplexes all play an increasing role in both the onshore and the offshore oil and gas industries.
